Vocational Training in Germany

Vocational study in Germany: Gold roadmap for working while studying, sustainable settlement in Europe

Vocational Training in Germany is currently the top choice for Vietnamese youth wishing to change their future. Unlike the pure academic path at University, vocational study in Germany according to the model Dual training (Ausbildung) helps students balance theory and practice. This is a program that helps you solve three problems at the same time: Free tuition, income while studying, and 100% job commitment after graduation.

With strong support from the German Government to attract international human resources, vocational study is not just a course, but a journey to help you become a standard international skilled worker and open up permanent settlement opportunities in the country with the largest economy in Europe.

Dual training model (Ausbildung) – The difference that creates class

In Germany, vocational training is not a secondary choice after university, but an extremely prestigious educational system respected by society.

The perfect combination of Theory and Practice

When participating in vocational study, your time is divided into two parts: 30-40% theory study time at a vocational school (Berufsschule) and 60-70% practical time at an enterprise (Betrieb). The knowledge just learned in class will be directly applied by you to real work under the guidance of experts and master craftsmen (Meister). This helps students be proficient in their profession right from when they are still in school.

Receive internship salary right from the first month

The most attractive point of German vocational study is the internship salary (Ausbildungsvergütung). Depending on the industry and the state of work, you will receive from 900 – 1.300 Euro/month. This amount helps you pay for living expenses, rent, and insurance without being financially dependent on your family in Vietnam.

The most potential vocational study groups in Germany 2026

The German education system provides more than 300 training occupations, but below are the occupational groups that are “thirsty” for human resources and have the best incentives for Vietnamese students:

Nursing and Healthcare industry

Germany is facing an aging population, making nursing the number 1 priority industry. Students are intensively trained in caring for the elderly, patients, or children. The internship salary in this industry is usually the highest and settlement opportunities are almost absolute.

Restaurant – Hotel and Chef industry

For dynamic people who love communication and culinary arts. You will work in high-class hotels, 5-star restaurants, learn professional service and manage service processes according to European standards.

Technical sector: Mechanical, Automotive, Construction

Bright future and long-term settlement opportunities

Vocational study does not just stop at a degree, but is a stepping stone for a new life in Europe.

Permanent settlement opportunity

According to German labor law, after 2 years of official work (since vocational graduation), you can apply for permanent residency. After a total of 5 years of living and working, you have the right to apply for German citizenship. This means you and your family can live long-term in a safe, high-welfare environment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is employment guaranteed after graduating from vocational study?
Yes, dear. You will be committed to signing a labor contract right upon graduation with a minimum salary from about 66 million/month.
Is it possible to change majors during the study process?
In the process of vocational study in Germany, switching industries is possible but not simple. Students need to have a reasonable reason and be agreed upon by the vocational school as well as the internship enterprise. If more than half of the course has been completed, students may have to restart the training program, leading to extended study time and living costs. Some new industries also require a higher level of German and need a new enterprise to sign an internship contract. In addition, switching industries midway may incur contract risks, such as having to compensate for training costs or contract compensation with the old enterprise if the commitment is violated. Therefore, before deciding, it is necessary to carefully research the new industry, discuss directly with the school and enterprise to understand the possibility of approval as well as related risks
Can I go without a high school diploma?
According to regulations, without a high school diploma, you will not be able to participate in the German vocational study program
But if you really want to participate in the program, you can participate in the high school program at continuing education centers combined with learning German in parallel to shorten the time.
Does the center guarantee a visa? What if a visa cannot be issued?
There are many reasons for not getting a visa
- Students who used to have a criminal record, illegal labor abroad
- Profiles are not standard
- Enterprise contracts are not guaranteed
- German level test with the Consulate failed
So it will be considered whether the error is due to the center or the student, there will be a satisfactory handling direction. (In case the error is at the center, the center will process the documents and translation until the visa is issued; in case the student fails the interview, a new interview sequence at the Embassy will be arranged until requirements are met)
How long can I stay in Germany after graduation to find a job?
After graduation, you are allowed to stay in Germany for 18 months to find a job. During this time, candidates can do any job to pay for life in Germany while looking for a job suitable for their professional qualifications.
